During the long winter months, your electric bill may add up to cost more than what's normally budgeted. Here are 5 different ways to cut it down and help conserve energy!
1. Stop the draft and insulate
Allowing heat to escape through doors, windows and the roof is just money wasted. Be sure to shut your doors, weatherstrip and insulate well to keep heat in.
2. Replace light bulbs
Your lights will last much longer when you change to energy efficient lighting and your bill will significantly decrease.
3. Switch the direction of ceiling fans in your home
Ceiling fans are a great way to keep energy costs low and should rotate in different directions during the summer and winter seasons. Clockwise is the way to go in the winter so you don't feel a breeze under the fan.
4. Change out your air filter
You need to change your air filter about once a month to help reduce energy and allow your furnace to perform routinely.
5. Un-plug appliances
When you aren't using your everyday electronic devices, make sure to un-plug them so they aren't utilizing energy. This will happily save you a few bucks too!
